Laila Biali

Award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter and pianist Laila Biali melds “traditional jazz with contemporary pop so effortlessly that neither style seems out of place on the same record” (Spinner Magazine). Sought after for tours with GRAMMY winning artists Chris Botti, Paula Cole, Suzanne Vega and Sting, Laila has also headlined festivals and venues spanning five continents including Carnegie Hall. This year, Laila was the featured performer at the first-ever global TEDSummit. Her studio recording, Tracing Light, received a JUNO nomination for “Best Vocal Jazz Album of the Year”, and her follow-up, Live in Concert, was named one of the “Best Albums of 2013” by DownBeat Magazine. Laila is currently set to release an album of original songs which includes collaborations with Canadian icon Randy Bachman and rising star Royal Wood.

This lively band of transplanted east-coasters deliver entertaining performances injected with a dose of humour from their fearless leader, Derina Harvey. Derina’s passion for storytelling through song is supported by a band of accomplished musicians who bring the songs of eastern Canada and the Celtic repertoire to life. The band has caused many audience members to get up out of their seats in a fit of clapping or dancing!

Chris Henderson

Since his debut release in 2006, Chris Henderson has become one of the busiest touring acts in Canadian Country Music. The former high school English teacher has released two full length albums and ten singles to Country Radio throughout his career. Chris has developed into a veteran songwriter and story-teller, and brings his unique brand of charm and heartfelt material to draw in crowds of all ages. He will be accompanied by Brad Prosko on guitar and bass, who has spent the last five years on the road with Chris, produced his sophomore album, and is currently producing his third album which is due out late in 2016. He will also be accompanied by Jayson Brinkworth on drums, percussion, and vocals. Proudly waving the Saskatchewan flag with a sound rooted in traditional country and infused with modern elements, Chris is sure to entertain audiences of all ages with his captivating voice, entertaining stories, and songs about life.

100 Mile House

Quality musicianship, finely crafted songs, and heartwarming stories are the qualities you will experience at a 100 Mile House performance with the ability to light up but also silence almost any room they play. Their live performance led to winning the Emerging Artist Award at the 2014 Edmonton Folk Music Festival and their albums receiving two Western Canadian Music Award nominations, two Calgary Folk Festival Songwriting Grand Prizes, and three Edmonton Music Awards. When performing they aim to create a connection with the audience past just performing songs to a room. They prefer to create a conversation with their crowd and connect with them in a way that leaves them feeling they have experienced a truly unique performance.

Sweet Alibi

Hailing from what has been described as the music capital of Canada, Winnipeg, Manitoba’s WCMA award winners Sweet Alibi have captivated audiences with their charming and personal performances. With three releases, over 360 shows across Canada, 33 plus festival performances, in numerous radio performances and interviews Sweet Alibi is fast becoming a well-known Folk/Roots/Pop group. Tom Power of CBC Radio 2 describes Sweet Alibi as this, “If Mumford and Sons and the Supremes had a love child it would be named Sweet Alibi.” A fitting characterization for a group that blends soulful and powerful vocal harmonies with the sincerity of folk and the foot stomping energy of roots.

Hillsburn is a five-piece indie-folk-pop band from Nova Scotia, Canada. The group formed in 2014 and has received regional and national acclaim for both its recorded music and its live performances. Hillsburn released its debut LP, In The Battle Years, in March 2016. Their performances combine soaring three-part vocal harmonies, with multi-instrument arrangements, and an uproarious energy that has seen many a crowd to their feet. Their songs are dynamic, lyrical, and in the vein of other great acts such as The Strumbellas, Hey Rosetta, and The Lumineers. Hillsburn have sold out shows throughout Atlantic Canada, and continue to push into the rest of the country with summer and fall performances at the Montreal Folk Festival, Jasper Folk Music Festival, and many other venues and cities. Their tour efforts include fall dates throughout the United States, and at major conferences throughout North America.
